You are invited to be a part of Capitol Girls on February 8, 2012! High school girls from across Iowa will convene in Des Moines to learn about the workings of the Iowa General Assembly and have an opportunity to shadow women legislators and learn about how state laws and budgets are developed and passed.

The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an inside look at the Iowa General Assembly and general guidelines to follow. Girls will be introduced in both the Iowa Senate and Iowa House of Representatives, and then paired with legislators. The day will conclude at 2 p.m. (Lunch is included.)

We hope you'll take a look at some we recommend because, let's face it, there are a lot out there that AIN'T so girl friendly...just sayin'...

Here you can find sites that talk about girls health in ways you can actually understand. Whew! They can help you learn stuff without having to feel embarrassed about asking an adult because you can chat online.

Everyone knows that one of the things girls worry about most is their body, but wouldn't it be nice to NOT worry so much. One of the best ways to get rid of worry is to laugh. Feed the Model is a great way to laugh about how crazy our world can get about looks and the rest of the website has cool info too! Or if you'd just like to be able to show your friends that models don't really look like they think, show them before and after pictures of what retouched photos look like.

Maybe you're a "Green Girl" and want to learn more about what you can do to help the environment. Besides being very impressive, it can be fun to learn about it!

If you are an aspiring writer or just like to read what others your age are writing, there are online magazines written by and for girls and teens that you should definitely scout out. Maybe you'll be their next guest writer, who knows???
