Increasing Women's Earnings and Financial Success
A fundamental issue for many women in
Iowa is financial survival. The ICSW envisions women not
just surviving, but thriving - by having access to the best
economic opportunities and most accurate information about
working
and money, empowering them to make intentional decisions
about their own future.
Women are more educated, work more, and
are living longer than ever before. Currently, on average
women in Iowa earn $0.78 for each $1.00 earned by men in
the same job. Across industry categories, on average, women
earn 62% of what men in that category earn. Efforts on pay
equity, increasing
women's participation in high-growth fields, and
knowledge
about personal finance and planning are crucial
elements in the Commission's vision for women's economic
success. |
