Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Resources

The Iowa Department of Education provides information and support to Iowa Schools in their efforts to address bullying and harassment issues in schools. All school boards, public and those of accredited non-public schools are to have the anti-bullying/anti-harassment policy adopted on or before September 1, 2007.

 

AMP: Achieving Maximum Potential

AMP is a youth-driven, statewide group that seeks to unleash the full potential for personal growth among foster and adoptive children in Iowa. AMP offers leadership opportunities, service learning projects, speaking opportunities, and educational/vocational assistance. AMP also provides the life skills youth need to become self-sufficient, independent adults.

 

iJAG: Iowa Jobs for America's Graduates

iJAG is an independent, statewide 501(c)(3) private nonprofit corporation established in 1999 and has become a leader within the national JAG network. Initially created for high school seniors as a school-to-work program, iJAG has evolved into an organization serving more than 1,500 students per year in 30 programs (25 schools), reaching into multiple communities across the state of Iowa.

 

Forum for Youth Investment (FYI)

The Forum for Youth Investment is a nonprofit, nonpartisan "action tank" dedicated to helping communities and the nation make sure all young people are Ready by 21®: ready for college, work and life. FYI aims to create opportunities and incentives for youth and adult leaders to think differently, act differently and act together because they are: linked by core beliefs about what is needed, guided by a shared sense of accountability, girded by compelling data, and driven by a common desire to ensure that all children, youth, families and communities have the supports and opportunities they need to succeed.

Youth Policy Action Center

The Youth Policy Action Center is a web site that engages young people (and adults) in democracy: changing policies that change young people’s lives. On April 18, 2005, more than 30 of the country’s leading national advocacy organizations launched the Youth Policy Action Center Web site. The Youth Policy Action Center has opened up membership to state and local organizations and features state-specific pages, an information clearinghouse, in-depth political tools, and interactive features including a blog, videos, and social networking.

Iowa Youth Congress

Iowa Youth Congress is made up of 100 student leaders from across the state. The Congress meets every fall at the Capitol in Des Moines to work on their agenda and adopt issues and legislation to pursue throughout the year. IYC is housed in the Department of Human Right’s division of Latino Affairs.
