ANNOUNCEMENT

SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES 

Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD) will be offering American Sign Language(ASL) classes for 6 weeks,
2 hours at their office located at 4403 First Ave SE Suite 303, Cedar Rapids. You need to register for this class 
thorough Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. 

There will be 3 classes: 

Beginners: Monday evenings from 3 to 5pm or 6 to 8 pm starting on June 8 until July 19. No classes on July 5. 

Intermediate/Advanced: Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8pm starting on June 9 to July 13.

6/4: 6:00 pm: American Sign Language Social hosted by Deaf Awareness and DMACC located at ALL-Play 
615 - 3rd Street, Des Moines. Games, eat and drink. 

6/12: 9 am— 11 pm: IAD’s 52 Annual Picnic located at Riverview Park Campground, 402 Woodland Ave., 
Marshalltown. 

6/21-25: Sertoma Club of Des Moines’s 12th Annual Fantasy Baseball Camp located at Johnston Little League 
Park in Johnston. 

6/26: 3-9 pm: CSD 10 Year Celebration located at Thomas Park, English Pavilion, Marion.

ANNOUNCEMENT 

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) would like to know about your experience with the Social Security 
Administration (SSA). Your answers will be helpful for them to better understand how deaf and hard of hearing 
people communicate with the SSA. 

If you get or have gotten SSI or SSDI benefits, please fill out this survey online. Your information will help NAD 
advocate for improved social security access for deaf and hard of hearing people. This survey will be available 
until June 15, 2010.
